EcoStoof at Dragon's Den
EcoStoof participated in the Dragons' Den program on March 25, 2021. There they found investor Michel Perridon, who is willing to invest €200,000. This amount will allow the startup to accelerate the delivery of Ecostoofs to the European market. Based on an EU market forecast, using the Ecostoof can save 828,000 tons of CO2 annually (for comparison: an average household directly emits 7.5 tons of CO2, according to Milieu Centraal).
About the Dragons' Den program
"As an architect, I was always very focused on insulating houses. Then I discovered an old cooking technique that uses insulating material. One plus one is two, and I made this ecological stove," Caro Niestijl begins her presentation. Together with Iris van de Graaf, she has been selling the Ecostoof for about two years. And with increasing success. In January 2020, they had a turnover of €2,000/month. In December, they were already at €15,000/month.
What is the advantage of the Ecostoof? "In the Ecostoof, your food cooks automatically for hours, and you save 30% energy. No more hassle with cooking, because the food is ready. Chef Klaas van Winsen served delicious bites from the Ecostoof during the pitch. Dragon Won Yip was impressed: "You're doing so well, you don't even need me!" Dragon Michel Perridon was interested in investing in Ecostoof: "I always hate it when the hostess is stuck in the kitchen." Perridon offered 200,000 euros for 25 percent of the company, which Caro and Iris enthusiastically accepted.
